19^th Annual Carthage Buggy Festival  

The Carthage Buggy Festival celebrates the rich history of Carthage, North Carolina. Located 8 miles north of Pinehurst in the Sand Hills region of North Carolina, Carthage was home to the Tyson Jones Buggy Factory, the largest buggy manufacturer in the nation for over half a century.   On to May 11 and 12, 2007 , Carthage celebrates its heritage with 2 days of family fun, good food and entertainment.  With an annual attendance of over 25,000 people, the Buggy Festival has grown into one of the biggest and best known festivals in the region.

The festivities begin Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. when the Arc of Moore County BBQ Cook Off begins at Nancy Kiser Park. On Saturday, over 100 food and craft vendors surround the Historic Courthouse from 9 am to 4 pm.  A stage set on the historic Courthouse steps hosts a variety of entertainment, including 'Johnnie and the Cadillacs', cloggers and bands playing gospel, country, and southern rock music.  Buggy rides, a variety of children's rides and games, a large display of buggies and historic tractors, an evening street dance and one of the largest classic car shows in the region provide a day of fun for the entire family.  All rides and entertainment are free of charge throughout the day. 

Ms. Buggy Festival is crowned on Saturday during the festivities. Nominated by the children at Carthage Elementary School, children in the first through the fifth grades write letters about why their mom, grandma, aunt or teacher should be Ms. Buggy Festival.  A winner and four runners-up are chosen and the students read their letters at the festival. Mr. and Mrs. Pinelake Nursing Home and Mr. and Mrs. Tara Plantation Retirement Home are also crowned.

The fairy tale atmosphere of The Old Buggy Inn provides an ideal place for a special wedding, shower or party.  We specialize in small, intimate weddings of 50 guests and under.  Beautiful brides float down the gingerbread staircase and join their intended in the large entrance hall while guests look on from the back of the hall and both parlors.  We work closely with you to personalize your day to make it the wedding of your dreams.  Various decorating and menu options available.  Please call for more information.  

Who-Dun-It at the Old Buggy Inn

     Did you hear a crime was committed at the Old Buggy Inn?  We need your help to figure out who did it.  Murder Mystery parties allow you to be dramatic and accuse your friends of committing dastardly crimes. They provide you the chance to be an actor and pretend to be someone else.  They let you wear clothes you wouldn't normally have a chance to wear.  They encourage you to put your deduction skills to good use.  They give you a night full of lively fun and laughter.  Prizes are awarded for the "detective" who solves the case, for best actor and for best costume.
